Chaddesley Corbett parish has
some 80+ public footpaths and Bridal-ways
covering some 60kms. / 50 miles.
Above average for Worcestershire.
Sandi Holding is the
Parish Council's Footpaths Warden for our area and she supervises the maintenance of the network of paths,
stiles, bridges & sign-posts; liaising with property owners and
local and visiting walkers and ramblers groups.
She ensures that all routes are 'walkable' - free from obstructions and
overgrown vegetation - and are, as far as possible, open to all.
If you come across any problem
or difficulty while walking in the Chaddesley area, you will be put in
contact with the
Footpaths Warden by sending an e-mail via this
link.

The 'old' Definitive Map of
the footpaths is located in the Lych-Gate outside St. Cassian's church.
There have been several alterations to the routes of some of the footpaths
shown, but notices about these alterations are shown 'on the ground' where
the routes have been re-directed.
The 'new' Definitive Maps (published Feb. 2006) are too large to be
displayed in the Lych-Gate - but an Interactive 'on-line' version can be
accessed on the Worcestershire County Council server at ..

Extract:
"The Footpaths Warden reported that the year-end report had been
completed and forwarded to Worcestershire County Council in May, and a
proposed work schedule for 2008-9 had been prepared. Verbal confirmation of
the maximum grant of £1,500 had been received. Reports from local residents
were very helpful. Annual meetings had been attended. Additional work to
that paid for by the County Council had been proposed at an estimated cost
of £650. The Chairman proposed that the Footpaths Warden should receive an
annual honorarium of £500 to show the appreciation of the Parish for all
the hard work undertaken. These proposals were unanimously agreed."

Worcestershire
County Council has produced it's Draft copy of the
"Rights of Way Improvement Plan" - (ROWIP - for short)

Ploughing and Cropping
Landowners reinstated more paths than ever before - without needing the spur
of being reported and visited by Officers. Well done !
Some 16 miles (25 kms) of crops were cleared from paths during the year and
involved serving 25 Notices on those still following their 'bad old ways'.
Temporary Closure Orders
Closure Orders can suddenly appear on paths which seem to need no
restriction.
This can be to enable Utility Companies to undertake work without
endangering the public.
i An advert is placed in your 'local paper' (but how
local is that ?)
ii Notices are posted along the path 7 days
afterwards; they are accompanied by plans showing the route restricted and,
in the case of bridle paths, any alternative route.
Such closures can last up to 6
months.
Emergency Closures
These occur where danger is unforseen: e.g. a collapsed bridge, a
landslip, 'hung' trees after a gale (i.e. a tree which has snapped and is
only supported by the branches of neighbouring trees).
Notices last up to 5 days -
Orders are in place for up to 21 days.
I will receive a copy
of any Closure which is issued for Chaddesley paths.
It will then be shown on this page.

Do you know what these signs
mean ?
